As an introduction to typography in term 2 Digital Design at Vancouver Film School I was charged with the task of researching contemporary typfaces, choosing one, and then typesetting my own name with it.
As a qualifier to my process I’d like to add that I love typography, and have been passionate about it for many years. With that in mind the task of merely setting my name lacked a certain luster, so I challenged the brief and made my own typeface – titled Edgecase.
The name stemmed from my own personality – I do everything a little bit differently than the norm. And because of this character trait I’m often classed by my friends and colleagues as an “edgecase”; which I assume means I’m all but completely crazy.
Below is the entire character set I create for Edgecase – an art deco style display face inspired by the dedication plack at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading.
